(Port) Wine of the month June 2016: Cockburn Vintage Port 1977
Cockburn failed to declare their Vintage Port 1977. "A start to a series of very bad decisions to follow from then" reported Cockburn's long-term director Miguel Corte-Real. Only with the takeover of the Symingtons and tough decisions with the IVDP, this very good Port could be sold as such. The quality was always at hand.
Youthful appearance, very dark-red colour. Spicy-fresh bouquet with floral notes. Strong, mineral palate with chocolate. Fresh finish with medium length. 17
